Global Stone appoints new Sales Directors

While 2020 has been a difficult year for everyone, the strength that has come from being the only UK company to control our own natural stone supply chain has enabled us to maintain continuity of service to our existing customers while also taking on new customers who struggled to get supply. This accelerated growth has led to a series of new appointments to support both existing and new business, as well as to continue to drive the business forward.

We are delighted to announce the following senior appointments;

Glen Swainston joins us as Regional Sales Director, Midlands in November after over 22 years in the industry, including working for most recently for MKM and Brett. He brings with him a breadth of experience at all levels across the sector and an indepth knowledge of the landscaping and merchant sector which will be key in developing this new role.

Glen said “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Global Stone at such an important time and play my part in the continued growth in this highly respected business. I was particularly attracted to the outstanding quality Global Stone shows across all aspects of the business, from the sourcing of exceptional products to their market leading excellence in customer service. I am looking forward to building long term partnerships as the hard landscaping supplier of choice”

Chris Bourne, who has been with Long Rake Spar for 9 years, will take up the role as Regional  Sales Director, South in early 2021.  Chris brings over 20 years experience of working within the Independent and National Builders Merchant industry where he initially worked for Tarmac and Hanson. His role will involve working closely with the UK National Merchant Buying Groups to further expand the companies exposure in the UK marketplace.

Chris said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has made 2020 an incredibly taxing year for everybody but has also provided significant opportunities for successful suppliers in our industry.  I’m excited to be joining such a successful team at Global Stone and being part of their planned strategic growth whilst continuing to offer the quality and customer service they are so well known for.”

We are also pleased to announce the change of role for Des Stokes to Business Development Director. Des has been with Global 10 years in a number of senior sales roles and will leverage his connections across the industry to identify and grow the volume sales business.
