Regularly clearing up flower beds and borders, removing leaves as well as other debris, tidying away empty pots and arranging patio planters will all help to improve the look of your patio whilst reducing the amount of work necessary to maintain it in future.
All paving needs a little attention to keep it in good condition. Different paving has different needs, for our Natural Stone collection we recommend brushing as the simplest form of maintenance. Regular sweeping will remove detritus and reduce the chance of stains or damage.
There are many products available when stains have occurred however. We highly recommend Azpects Mortar Stain & Calcium Remover which removes cement residue, scale, oxidisation and atmospheric contamination.
Thanks to its hardness and weather resistance our Porcelain collection can be cleaned with almost any mild detergent and a broom or water jet. For ongoing convenience and to avoid potential limescale forming, we recommend facilitating drainage with a rubber brush.
Now your paving is clean and you have tidied up, it’s time to plant. March is a great time to plant fruit trees and vegetables. Cauliflowers can be planted now under a cover. As well as perennial herbs such as lemon balm, rosemary, sage, oregano and thyme.
But if you don’t have the space or would prefer to stick to patio planters, flowers such as tulips, daffodils and crocus’ should be planted around now, bringing a beautiful array of colours soon enough.
So there we have it, our tips on how to prepare your paving for Spring and the coming months. If you have any questions on maintaining your Global Stone paving, please contact us.
