As part of our overall strategy, we look to support young garden designers on their journey. We do this through several methods, from sponsoring garden designers in the RHS Young Designers of the Year competition, supporting colleges and providing products for show gardens for new, as well as existing designers.
We are delighted to be involved with many designers and are particularly pleased that one of the first young garden designers that we supported Caitlin Mclaughlin, Thrift Landscapes, won the RHS Young Designer of the Year in 2016, and has just gone on to win the Fresh Designer category in The Society of Garden Designers Awards 2020.
The Fresh Designer Award recognises new designers with less than 5 years of experience. The judges said of her winning “Courtyard House” project:
“A thoughtful and self-confident design that shows a mature restraint that one would not necessarily expect so early in a designer’s career. An accomplished design demonstrating design skill and flare.“
As part of the design, Caitlin used our Toscana Smoke porcelain, one of her favourites and which she also used in the show garden that won her the RHS Young Designer of the Year.
However, the Toscana range is already an award winning range. The wins include Golds from both RHS Chelsea and Southport Flower Shows. Another of the RHS Young Designer of the Year back in 2016 was Lily Gomm. Lily designed The Stihl Hillier, Chelsea Garden 2019 which featured Toscana Almond.
It’s clear that the range continues its award winning trend; add to that the win at the Southport Flower Show 2017 which featured Toscana Latte.
Toscana is available in three beautiful muted colours and a large format size of 600 x 1200mm. Due to its anti-slip surface and loved by designers and homeowners, Toscana is perfect for contemporary gardens and ideal around swimming pools .
