Lilly Gomm is at the helm as designer, armed with her degree in Architecture from the University of Brighton, a further qualification in Horticulture from Capel Manor and a number of medals from RHS Flower Shows, most recently a Silver-gilt from Hampton Court in 2018. She has always enjoyed gardening, with a family history of gardeners (professional and hobbyists) going back to her great-grandfather. Lilly is working alongside Sarah Eberle, a Fellow at the Society of Garden Designers, mentoring her throughout RHS Chelsea.
Lilly has worked with Global Stone previously, winning a Silver-gilt at RHS Tatton in the Young Designer of the Year 2016. She chose to use our Premium Porcelain Six Nine Series in Parchment.
We are delighted to reveal that our Premium Porcelain Toscana in Almond is her paving of choice this year; used in a show garden for the first time. The Premium Porcelain Toscana range is perfect for this garden, with beautiful muted colours in a large size format. The range, loved by designers and homeowners alike, has regularly featured in award winning gardens.
The Stihl Hiller Garden blends together contemporary and traditional elements. The central focal point is a water feature, visible from all areas in the garden. Hillier have introduced three plants, brand new to RHS Chelsea; Weigela ‘Picobella Rosa’, Isoplexis Isabelliana ‘Bella’ and Cordyline ‘Pink Star’. Traditional yet low maintenance plants, Lilly says they will “create a backdrop with a palette of delicate, contemporary colours, allowing the colours of the plants to stand out.”
Lilly’s choice of plants and paving requires minimum upkeep. Therefore, this garden provides the perfect low maintenance solution for the modern lifestyle.
