Global Stone Sponsor Winning Show and Festival Gardens At The 2015 RHS Malvern Spring Festival

May 22, 2015

Global Stone sponsored two gardens in this year’s RHS Malvern Spring Festival, which is celebrating its 30th show, making it the oldest regional show after Chelsea.

The show has become renowned for showcasing the hottest trends in garden design and both show gardens chose paving from our Artisan Serenity collection which offers a versatile honed sandstone which has cool tones and smooth texture making it ideal for contemporary garden designs.

Out of Darkness

Silver Award

The designers of the “Out of Darkness” Show Garden are Lisa Burchill and Robin Ideson, who trained together at the Garden Design School. Both run their own design practices and the show garden will be the first show garden from both the designers. There delightful garden achieved a prestigious Silver Medal, a great result for their first ever show garden.

Their garden demonstrates that a strong simple design using a good choice of planting and landscaping can transform uninspiring difficult areas of shaded garden where nothing grows. Fresh vibrant shade tolerant plants are combined with light clean and crisp landscaping using Global Stone Artisan Serenity Buff Brown, to create a dynamic combination of light and dark. Their garden hopes to inspire visitors to the show to rethink those neglected shady areas and demonstrate that out of darkness something beautiful can be created. Lisa and Robin have created a real garden for real people.

Constraining Nature

Gold Winner & Best in Show

Aimed at the novice gardener the Festival Garden competition was introduced last year to inspire and encourage up and coming landscape designers. And we were delighted to be sponsor Kate Durr, student designer who won the opportunity to build a garden only 7 weeks into her diploma course with The Cotswold Gardening Company. Kate won the highest accolade of a Gold Medal, along with Best in Festival Show; an amazing result for her first ever show garden.

Kate’s garden “Constraining Nature” is built in support of Ucare, an oxford based cancer charity and her garden featured their new Tulip Caresse which is was launched in her garden. The garden, which features Global Stone Aristan Serenity Linear in Buff Brown, is an elegant garden full of sensual contrast. The overall linear design constrains the voluptuous planting, where dark reflective water is dominated by a feature wall of steel panels.

Congratulations to Lisa and Robin and Kate on your beautiful gardens and well deserved medals.

The RHS Malvern Spring Festival runs from the 7th – 10th May 2015. For more information about the festival visit www.rhsmalvern.co.uk.
